never travel with friends

April 27th, 2006 by activelyscattered

I can’t explain it, but Vegas was both awesome and crappy all at once. I had a great time but I won’t go again unless it’s with one person and one person only.

Spent a considerable amount of money at the spa being slathered in mud, soaked in vats of mud and being rubbed and buffed till I gleamed. That was glorious. I now know that my next trip there will involve nothing but spas and pools by day and seeing shows at night. Zumanity was FABULOUS!

The men folk didn’t go to Zumanity, but wish they had now that they know about the asian TWINS swimming naked in a fishbowl and twisting themselves into unnatural positions while kissing eachother. It was hysterical and amazing and wierd and disgusting all at once.

We stayed at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay and had a great experience over-all. The spa there is really nice, but the one next door at Mandalay Bay is far superior. I would like to stay at the Four Seasons next time, tho. The pool is crowded but I got my picture taken with two 6′4 Elvi down at Fremont Street…spend at least 2 whole nights there. It’s a blast. I don’t care if I see the strip again, but Downtown is a drunken party all night long.

Take my advice. Travel with one or two pals. no more. do what you want and when or you’ll not be satisfied.

Birthday Weekend

April 17th, 2006 by activelyscattered

Friday we arrived in Detroit and went to a rodeo at the Palace. It was a total riot!!! We went straight to fashionable Ferndale from there and I spent the rest of the night drinking and dancing (not a good combination) at a really fun Disco bar. We had a pretty laid back Easter and I’m completely ready to fly out to Vegas Wednesday morning.

Saturday all of the wives went for pedicures. I was thinking I’d spend about 20 bucks on that and maybe get my layers tidied up while I was there. I told my husband I’d spend about 40 total…OOOPS. I spent DOUBLE that. Being married to a man who gets over things quickly? Priceless.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!!

Out of Pocket as of tomorrow

I just got out of a good hot garden tub all bubbled up with my favorite bubble bath. I had an extremely laid back relax evening even though I’d fully expected to have a psycho, stressed out, on-edge night.

The plan for today was that I’d come home from work, throw together some sort of meal, tutor, clean the whole house, do laundry and pack our bags for the trip. When I got home, dinner was ready, the house was spotless and Miguel surprised me with my Birthday present! He’s ordered the table and chairs I wanted from Ikea for our breakfast nook!!!!! I still need to pack, but that’s easy and I can daydream away the rest of the night. Oh he can sometimes be PERFECT!

I’ve got my reservations made for a pedicure in Detroit and for 3 spa treatments at Mandalay Bay. I’m going to the Guggenheim in Vegas, to an adult revue AND to Cirque. I have a pocket FULL of spending money and I’m being taken out to a really cool 80’s bar for my birthday instead of the rodeo.

life couldn’t be better…

why are three year olds so…three???

GRRRR. I swear if I were a gerbil I’d eat my son. Today after I asked him to be a good boy and eat his dinner while I tutored, he picked up some noodles on his fork, flung them at me and said "you eat it". After being swatted he’s still being stubborn and has been eating approximately one spaghettiO noodle every 3 minutes for the past hour. He will continue sittling there til they are gone, too.

I had the BEST time at school today. I had a "T" party with my 3 year olds with Fancy china "T"cups and Triangle sandwiches and Tortilla chips and sweet Tea. They acted like the most important little princesses and kings you’ve ever seen. I may serve them on china with pretty tablecloths more often.

We’re all ready to head out to Vegas but not before we celebrate my birthday at a rodeo. i’m not sure WHY my husband thinks I’d like to go to a rodeo for my birthday, but that’s the plan.

late late late

Running late this morning. As usual.

Yesterday I woke up in a foul mood but was feeling better by last night. Michael asked me to make some french toast and sausages for dinner last night and I managed to burn the liviving crap out of the sausages so we ended up having french toast and sausage shaped chunks of carbon.

Tonight we need to go shopping for our housewarming tomorrow. It’s going to be so much fun to have all these very different people with their very different personalities together in one place.

i need a “poor baby”…

i LOOVE to plan parties. Love to send out invites and fix my house up and plan the appetizers and nibbles and drinks. I love every part of entertaining…except whenever I invite people over nobody actually shows up. It’s happened at least 4 times in the past and now this.

A month ago I decided to have a little housewarming and asked Michael to invite all his co-workers and I’d invite mine. I gave my co-workers just about a whole months notice on this thingy and today I asked around to see who was going to be coming…the consensus is pretty much NOBODY. I feel like I’m in Junior High again and I’m not popular and I thought I was over my self esteem issues but this has me really thinking that maybe nobody likes me. That and EVERY single one of Miguel’s co-workers are coming.

Another great reason to give me some "Poor Baby"s is that I wrote a nice little letter to my ex asking him to consider possibly having my son spend the school year here with me since we have a year round schedule with nine weeks in and 2 weeks off. He had the nerve to have a lawyer draft a letter informing me that he believes I’m an unfit parent and that there was no way in hell that was going to happen. I may just have to move back up North to fight a stupid ass custody battle that never should have been an issue in the first place but that dickweed knew that i had approximately 5 dollars to spend on a lawyer and he had a bottomless Mommy’s pocket. I ended up just having to say "Whatever as long as you will let me out of this sham of a marriage" cause I ran out of money and he ended up getting Lukey how the hell is that fair.

I had best get "Poor Baby"s from every last living person who reads this so that I can go back to my perky confident self.

Easy Monday

I couldn’t have asked for an easier day. Woke up late and skedaddled off to work and was actually running 20 minutes ahead of schedule when I pulled in to the lot. It wasn’t until after I got in that I realized it was Spring Break and that we only had about half our usual amount of kiddys. Everyone in my room was on their best behaviour and some even went home earlier than usual.

I picked up my Sonic corndog and got a prescription filled during my lunch break and then by the time I got home Miguel had pulled out dinner and we had a smooth night since I had no students coming for tutoring.

Absolutely un-eventful day and I liked it. Tomorrow will likely be another story.

Well crap…

I’m as bad at keeping up with this damn blog as i am at getting to work on time. since my last post i’ve moved into my new house and watched my husband paint it in the colors of my choosing from top to bottom. i’m pretty damn pleased with the results. actually i’m totally in love with the place tee-hee.

my brother has off and moved to Louisianna after being coerced. my mom has allowed her sister to move in with her. i’ve finally gotten my verah own classroom and have clmbed the ladder from being a teacher’s ass to being an honest to gawd teacher. and i’m hoping to be "with child" sometime in the near future…it aint going so well.

Directly after Easter we’re flying off to Vegas with a bunch of friends and calling it a honeymoon. i’ve never been and i’m just giddy with excitement. we’ve booked ourselves to see a vampire themed titty show (i’m all atwitter) and cirque de soleil and while miguel gambles away all his funds i plan to sit in a spa for an hour a day and be served drinks (poolside if possible)

i finally have a digital camera. i’ve no idea how it works. i’ve taken about 4 pictures and now they’re in there and that’s about all i know.

i suppose it is now sleepy time. Michael’s been snoozing for an hour while i stayed up and watched a piece of crap documentary about a brat child who’s bleeding her daddy dry.

nighty night.

It’s a funky kind of Thursday

I passed my road test and didn’t even have to parallel park. I have an actual TN license…it’s great. They would not let me wear my tiara for the photo. I thought that was pretty rude.

Monday I tried going in to the doctor, but didn’t have enough time between the DMV and the house inspection. The house walk through was pretty much boring and we were told that dry wall would start the very next morning.

Last night we were meeting someone for dinner and decided to take him to see our new house. We were expecting to see that maybe a few walls had been drywalled BUT found the entire house had been drywalled AND mudded. It’s completely insane how fast they work. And I went and stuck my finger in the fresh, wet mud. I’m sure they weren’t happy to see that this morning. We ate a nice dinner (I had southwestern eggrolls and potstickers) and I realized I was uncomfortably full. I’d been feeling like that after eating for a couple weeks.

I’ve been trying to get in to see a doctor since Monday. Wednesday I tried after work, but they were closed. I tried this morning since my throat was still sore and I’d started coughing and was told it would be an hour or 2 wait. I went back at lunchtime and finally got in. I’ve got the STREP of course. While I was there I told the doc about an ingrown hair under Miguel’s arm and she wrote us both prescriptions. I also asked about that uncomfortable spot under my ribcage…she checked and thinks I’m having gall bladder troubles so now i have an ultrasound tomorrow morning. Of all things…

I’ll have more news soon. I may get to do something fun like have surgery.

illegal driver

November 5th, 2005 by activelyscattered

A couple weeks back I learned my MI drivers license had expired…like 6 months ago!!!! This is entirely crazy, especially since I’ve been carded countless times AND I used it to apply for my marriage license. Until I tried to change my name at the Social Security office, nobody noticed. So now, when I went to apply for a new license at the TN DMV, I find I am required to take a ROAD TEST!!!! Can you believe it???

I don’t think I’ve parallel parked in like 8 years or so, so I used my lunch break yesterday to practice. It just so happened that there were some large orange construction barrels in the parking lot of my church that I put to very good use. After I parked between them a couple times I decided to have some fun racing my zoom-zoom around in tiny circles in and around these cones. My little car can be LOTS of fun in an empty lot! Wish me luck on Monday with my stupid ridiculous test.

I’ve had a sore throat for about a week. Since I’m really susceptible to strep and it’s been going around, I can pretty much guarantee I’ve got the evil bug. I’ve had it 3 times in the past 6 months or so cause I work in a petri dish. The doctor’s office will be my second task on Monday so I can get hooked up with some antibiotics.

The third place I have to be Monday is a construction meeting on our new house. I guess we have to walk through the place and make sure we’re happy with where they’ve placed all the studs for the walls and plumbing and electrical outlets and such so that they can begin drywalling. We’re still being told we’ll be in by Christmas. YAY!!!!!

After the meeting I’ve gotta run on in to work so long as my doctor says it’s ok.

TATA for now, dears.
